About Kylan Johnson
Kylan is a performance coach and kinesiologist whose work is grounded in movement science, athletic development, and long-term durability. A former varsity soccer player at Mount Royal University, he brings firsthand experience from competitive sport alongside a strong academic foundation in human performance and physical literacy. He holds a Master of Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and Registered Kinesiologist with the Alberta Kinesiology Association. Kylan also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education with a focus on Physical Literacy, shaping his belief that quality movement, not just capacity, underpins sustainable performance at every level.
Kylan believes effective coaching must be individualized, intentional, and transferable. While guided by shared coaching principles, his approach prioritizes the unique strengths, limitations, and goals of each athlete, ensuring training in the gym translates meaningfully to sport and daily life. He places particular emphasis on the relationship between force absorption and force production, and how jumping, sprinting, and agility training can enhance both performance and resilience. Outside of coaching, Kylan prioritizes his own longevity through rehabilitation-focused work, strength training, swimming, and consistent attention to recovery through sleep and nutrition. His perspective is shaped by both lived athletic experience and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
